General Impression
In this hotel the look of an old style Grand Hotel on the outside and older parts of the hotel harmoniously blend in with the modern new lobby and spa area. We thought it was a good mix of old glamour and modern style.
The hotel features two restaurants. One in the building itself and a gourmet restaurant by the lake. Breakfast is served on the terrace by the beautiful gardens which makes for a nice and relaxing setting. The buffet is lovingly prepared. Someone was constantly checking if everything was alright - even straightening out the alignment of the marmelade jars. The waiters in their uniforms so typical for Italy are friendly, helpful and keen to fulfill your every wish.
The pool deck is actually built into the lake and offers a great view on the surrounding mountains and villages across the lake. Sun chairs and towels are included. Don´t dare to set up an umbrella on your own. I tried and the pool attendant was right there with an authentic smile saying: “Please Sir - you relax and enjoy. We are here to do this for you!” Relaxation with a view…
Rooms (we had standard room 215) are good sized and clean. However, the interior design could be a bit more modern and our bathroom could have used some TLC. It really did not influence our stay because the hotel and the area are way to nice to spend much time in the room. Judging by the hotel brochure the more expensive rooms are more luxurious and kept in the style of a grand hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would love to come back some day… well, pictures say more than a thousand words – so just watch the video clip below for a short excursion to this beautiful place.
Location
Very good! It took us 10 to 15 minutes to Como by car. As an alternative you can also use the ferry boat to Como and other towns along the lake. The ferry pier is right at the hotel.
